Swede Andreas Almgren wins New York Marathon
Sweden's Andreas Almgren won the New York City Men's Marathon in his debut on Sunday, continuing a spectacular year in which he's already won 10,000m gold at the European Championships and broke the European half-marathon record in Copenhagen in September. The 31-year-old former data scientist finished the race in two hours, six minutes and one second, 13 seconds ahead of his nearest challenger. "I'm about to start crying. It's better than anything I could have ever imagined," Almgren, draped in a Swedish flag, told broadcaster ESPN.
