US Secretary of State Marco Rubio does not believe Russian President Vladimir Putin will agree to any peace settlement regarding Ukraine before spring 2027. Speaking at the G20 foreign ministers’ meeting in Atlanta, Rubio rejected claims that a deal is imminent and characterized near-term NATO membership for Ukraine as unrealistic. Rubio has also cast doubt on whether Putin will attend the G20 leaders’ summit in Miami on Dec. 14-15 despite receiving a White House invitation.
