Municipal housing company introduces tenant maximum income limit
Municipal housing company Uppsalahem is introducing a maximum income limit for tenants in certain apartments located in attractive areas. "The aim is to reduce segregation," says Elnaz Alizadeh, the Social Democrat party chair of Uppsalahem to Swedish Radio News. The initiative involves 40 apartments as part of a pilot project in Uppsala; a similar model also exists in Stockholm. Applicants must earn less than SEK 24,400 per month before tax to be on the list.
